This test is intended to determine the abrasion resistance of leather and coated textile surfaces used in seating area applications. For the purpose, a Martindale test apparatus in accordance to ISO 12947-1 is used. In order to achieve a more intense test situation – as it also may be found in every day use – a ball plate is placed underneath the specimen. The procedure is based on ISO 17076-2. This document describes modifications and supplements to ISO 17076-2, only.
