This evaluation recommendation applies to vehicles in categories M1 and N1 in accordance with ECE/TRANS/WP.29/78.

The frequency range to be applied for the evaluation is from 1 Hz to 100 kHz, analogous as defined in icNIRP [3].

This evaluation recommendation includes:

•       Motor vehicles (cars) regardless of the type of drive or energy source.
•       Continuous magnetic field sources, including continuous magnetic field sources, or repetitive transients such as: batteries, fans, etc.
•       Operating conditions of the vehicle:
  • Driving at a constant speed
  • Line-bound loading of electric vehicles (AC and DC).

Excluded from this recommendation are:

•       "Wireless Charging" systems or wireless charging of electric vehicles and mobile phones
•       The assessment of radio-relevant components or devices that are already regulated by other regulations or standards.
•       Short-term sporadic functions or events that can be randomly activated by the driver, the passengers or by the vehicle itself, such as the horn, the door lock, motorized side mirrors, side indicators, key search, press-controlled gasoline pump.

•       Abnormal functions of the vehicle or components.
•       The evaluation of active medical implants is also excluded.
