The described test procedure uses Resistance Spot Welding (ISO 4063:212) to assess the Liquid Metal Embrittlement (LME) susceptibility of a given steel grade. Scatter in reported LME-sensitivities can occur between test labs as encountered during round robin tests executed in preparation for this VDA-recommendation. Therefore, it is recommended to compare results against those of a known reference material.
