The objective of this guideline is the improvement of evaluations of brake noise dynamometer and noise vehicle testing. The information of currently used evaluations of noisy brake applications is typically restricted to one single noise event per application. As existing brake noise acquisition systems provide much more detailed information in terms of multiple frequencies, varying sound pressure levels and squeal durations, evidently the traditional utilisation is poor.
The present description of noisy brake application keeps the traditional methods but adds valuable techniques that help increasing the information content.
