This test instruction describes how to perform the plate bending test and to determine the bending angle to get information about the formation behavior and the sensitivity of metallic materials to failure during form-ing processes with dominant bending components (e.g. hemming operations) or at crash load.
The test instruction describes the procedure for the plate bending test on samples of metallic materials, es-pecially of aluminum alloys and ultra-high strength steels (tensile strength Rm ≥ 780 MPa)
Specifications that deviate from this test instruction may be agreed between customer and supplier and must be documented.
