This test instruction describes the performance of the zinc adhesion test on electroplated galvanized and hot-dip galvanised steels having a tensile strength above 590 MPa. The test is intended to draw conclusions on the suitability of steel sheets for Bodyin-White w.r.t. bonding in the structural area with a thickness typically between 0.4 and 3 mm. Statistical information is currently available for thicknesses up to 2.2 mm. This quick test is suitable for obtaining initial short-term statements on the adhesion of zinc coatings. The test is to be understood as a laboratory test and does not serve to ensure adhesion at the time of coating production.
