This document represents an guidance document for conducting vehicle LCAs. It is based on, specifies, and partly goes beyond the requirements of ISO 14044 (2006) for vehicle LCAs (complete cars and not components) taking into account the specific situation of the automotive industry. It specifies general methodological requirements of the ISO standard in order to allow for a consistent modelling of vehicle LCAs across OEMs and to achieve a higher degree of comparability.
The guidance has been developed with a focus on conventional passenger cars but specific aspects of plug-in hybrid vehicle, electric vehicles and fuel cell vehicles have been taken into consideration. Specific requirements of this type of vehicles are mentioned explicitly throughout this guidance, if applicable.
