The Classification according to this recommendation is applicable for material and material composites in motor vehicles construction, those trailers and for parts, which are used for these vehicles.
Basis are the conventional material designations; new designations may be used on demand.
The Classification shall be used to umquely categonzation of the materials, includingg material composite parts, in an easy to grasp structure and for following purposes.
- comparability of different vehicles in relation to the materials used.
- determination of material portions in view of the legally specified quotas for automobile recycling
- Classification of the material information from the “material data sheet" for components of suppliers
